Wunkar tractor fire - 28 April 2024
Two trucks and a Bulk Water Carrier responded to reports of a tractor fire at 5:30pm in a paddock at Wunkar – about 20 kilometres South-West of Loxton.
Upon arrival, the CFS crews found the New Holland T8 tractor and Spray Plant - a trailer towed behind which sprays weed killer - fully involved in flames, which had also started to spread into grass in the paddock.
The 15 firefighters quickly contained the grass fire and extinguished the vehicle and plant, which was completely destroyed.
The farm operator was able to exit the tractor unharmed. Losses are estimated at $800,000.
