Vehicle fire at Coonawarra - 26 August 2026

This morning, CFS firefighters responded to reports of a truck fire on the Riddoch Highway at Coonawarra on the Limestone Coast.
The driver of a road train containing milk pulled over and self-extricated from the vehicle after noticing sparks coming from the lead trailer.
Around 10 volunteers on 2 trucks, supported by a command vehicle and bulk water carrier, attended and contained the fire to the trailer.
Thanks to the skilled response of crews, the prime mover and rear trailer were saved. The impacted trailer and its contents were lost, with damages estimated at $100,000.
Due to a leak in the impacted trailer, an additional 2 specialist Hazardous Materials crews were called to help contain the spilled milk and limit its spread.
Crews will remain on scene this afternoon to ensure the spill is contained and doesn't pose any risk to the surrounding environment.
SA Police provided support on scene.
