Update on the Emu Flat fire near Clare - 3 Feb 2018, 10:30AM

Fire crews continue to work to control the Emu Flat fire this morning. There has been no significant growth to the perimeter overnight, with the size of the burned area approximately 130 hectares.

Crews will continue work today on containing the fire after a successful back burn operation last night to secure the north eastern boundary.

Reports yesterday that a house was destroyed are incorrect. A shed with a tractor inside was destroyed and an air conditioner on the roof of a house was impacted, however the house was saved.

Meanwhile a fire at a Nairne property today, was contained to the contents of the 100 metre by 20 metre shed at Matthew Road, Nairne.

Sawdust caught alight and crews were able to save the structure. Fortunately there was no livestock in the shed at the time.
