Truck fire at Panitya - 21 August 2026
At approximately 8:00 pm last night, six SA Country Fire Service crews, including 4 in Breathing Apparatus, responded to a Triple Zero call to attend a truck fire at Panitya, about 25 kilometres west of Kimba on the Eyre Peninsula.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the second trailer of the B Double fully involved. The prime mover and first trailer had been disconnected and moved to safety.
CFS firefighters, with the support of SA State Emergency Service members, will remain on scene working to extinguish the blaze and ensure the area is safe. The Eyre Highway remains closed until SA Police can attend to manage traffic.
