Structure saved at Hamley Bridge - 24 November

Friday, November 24 at 2.30pm:

At 1.20 this afternoon, 40 CFS firefighters were called to a crop and stubble fire on Fidge Road at Hamley Bridge in the Mid North.

The fire was burning fast throughout the crop with flame heights of six metres reported by firefighters on the ground.

It burned about 30 hectares in just 20 minutes before crews were able to contain the fire. One house was under threat but firefighters positioned themselves well and managed to save the home using offensive firefighting techniques.

The cause is a suspected fallen power line, and crews will remain on scene for about an hour mopping up.
