Structure Fire at Naracoorte - 25 December 2022

CFS were called to attend a structure fire in Naracoorte in the State’s Southeast at 7:50pm.

Eight CFS trucks and several crews from local brigades supported by SAPOL and SAAS have attended the scene where the local business was engulfed in fire. CFS Hazmat crews have also attended as the premises contains approximately 2000 litres of waste oil and fuel on site.

The fire is currently contained to the single structure and CFS crews are protecting nearby properties from any spread. Thankfully there were no occupants in the building and no reported injuries.

There is a large amount of thick black smoke over the township and currently it is reported that a large crowd is drawing nearby the scene. CFS urges locals to stay some distance from the scene to ensure their safety and to allow the crews and supporting services to contain the area.

Roads are expected to be impacted for some time with road closures currently in place surrounding the Deviation Road and Gordon Street intersection in Naracoorte. Travelers are advised to take alternate routes at this time.

CFS crews are expected to remain on site for an extended period of time to control the fire and ensure the area is made safe for the public.
