Structure fire at Andamooka - 21 December

At 1:15 this morning, CFS crews were called to a single storey structure fire on Opal Creek Boulevard at Andamooka, in South Australia’s far north.

25 volunteer firefighters on four trucks and one bulk water carrier were called to the old Opal Hotel, which was in the process of being renovated.

The structure has been destroyed by the fire, which caused approximately $250,000 damage.

However, crews were able to protect and save most of an accommodation block out the back of the hotel.

Fire cause investigators will be in attendance.
