Structure Fire Alford

Just before 8am this morning SA Country Fire Service Firefighters were responded to reports of smoke coming from a shed on a property on Church Road Alford, near Bute in the states mid north.

On arrival firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the steel constructed shed at a Piggery and found that much of the shed was being impacted by fire.

More than 20 Firefighters from 4 appliance and 1 bulk water carrier undertook offensive and defensive firefighting techniques to contain the fire within 30 minutes and also worked to protect other buildings at the Piggery.

Unfortunately the shed has been extensively damaged, there were a number of livestock in the shed at the time of the fire which are now undergoing medical assessment by the Department of Primary Industries and Regions SA Officers and Veterinarians.

The early dollar damage has been set at $100000, The cause is currently undetermined with Fire Cause Investigators from SA Police and SA Metropolitan Fire Service attending later today.
