Shed fire in Compton - 27 August 2021

At approximately 17h15 on Friday, 27 August 2021, the SACFS was alerted to a residential shed fire in Compton. 

The fire is believed to have been started by an electrical fault in a bar fridge inside shed. SACFS firefighters responded swiftly with three fire trucks in order to extinguish the fire. 

Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, however, approximately $60,000 to $80,000 worth of damage was done to the shed and its contents by the fire. 

After extinguishing the fire, the SACFS firefighters utilised thermal imaging cameras to search the burnt areas within the shed for any remaining hotspots before declaring the scene safe.

A local fire cause investigator will study the scene to determine the exact cause of the fire.
