One Tree Hill Grass Fire - December 13

At 1.50pm today, CFS was alerted to a grass fire in a paddock near Blencowe Road in One Tree Hill.

40 CFS firefighters in 9 appliances, 8 MFS firefighters in 2 appliances and 8 DEWNR fire crew in 3 vehicles responded quickly to the fire and were able to contain it in around 30 minutes. Crews contained the fire to 5 hectares and did an excellent job in saving a property which was threatened by the fire. Four single engine air tankers were responded and completed one drop to assist firefighters on the ground.

SAPOL were also in attendance. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

CFS advises those nearby to take care in the fire area over the next few days. We also urge all South Australians to do their 5 minute bush fire plan and stay informed of weather conditions and fire danger ratings throughout the summer season. Complacency kills, don’t wait until the last moment. Create your 5 minute bush fire plan now at https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/site/prepare_for_a_fire/5_minute_bushfire_plan.jsp
