Mt Osmond grass fire - 3:45pm 28 Nov 2017

At 12:23 this afternoon, CFS and MFS crews were called to Gleneagles Road, Mt Osmond, following reports of a small fire burning near a few homes.

Upon arrival the crews found the fire burning in steep terrain, and called in two water bombers for aerial support.

CFS and MFS crews were then alerted that a resident from the area had received lacerations, after being caught in a barbed wire fence while trying to put out the fire.

CFS and MFS staff carried the injured resident up a steep slope to SA Ambulance crews.

The five CFS trucks and one MFS truck crews managed to contain the fire to one hectare, and protect surrounding homes.

The fire is believed to have been started from an escaped burn-off.

A Bushfire Advice Message remains in place for the Mt Osmond fire while smoke is still visible from the SE freeway and in the Mt Osmond, Glen Osmond and Leawood Gardens area.
