Moorak HazMat incident - 15 June 2026

CFS volunteer firefighters are currently on scene at a hazardous materials (HazMat) incident at Moorak, near Mount Gambier.

Around 3pm, a crew from Compton CFS were called to a property to assist a resident with a HazMat spill.

On arrival, crews found approximately 5kg of spilled insecticide inside a shed. 

Around 5 CFS volunteers in breathing apparatus and specialist HazMat gear were supported by 2 SA Metropolitan Fire Service trucks to contain the materials. 

Crews will remain on scene for some time to continue with atmospheric monitoring and securing the spill which poses no risk to the community.
