House Fire at Stirling North (14 October 2018)

At just after 4 o’clock this afternoon, the CFS were dispatched to a house fire at Harris Street, Stirling North, near Pt Augusta in that states mid-north.

On arrival firefighters found the single storey home well involved in fire, which was penetrating the roof space.

20 firefighters from the CFS and MFS worked quickly to extinguish the blaze and protect neighbouring properties. Gas bottles at the rear of the home posed an additional risk and firefighters successfully kept those cooled throughout the incident.

The occupant of the home was able to escape uninjured. The home was fitted with working smoke alarms.

It took firefighters 30 minutes to contain the blaze. The fire has caused the roof to collapse in several places. The damage bill is expected to reach approximately $200k and fire cause investigators will be attending tomorrow morning in an effort to determine the cause.
