House fire at Mount Burr

At 1:19pm this afternoon the CFS was alerted to a house fire via multiple calls to triple zero.

Crews arrived to find the home engulfed in flames.

The home owner, initially thought to be inside, had left the property about 20 minutes earlier and returned to find the house alight.

Three fire trucks with nine CFS volunteers attended the fire and, although unable to save the home, were able to protect neighbouring properties.

Firefighters were also unable to enter the home due to a fear of structural collapse.

At this stage the cause of the fire is unknown, with losses estimated to be between $180,000 and $190,000.

Fire cause investigators have been requested.
