House fire at Kanmantoo 5 July

Residents were home at the time of the fire and CFS crews were able to safely evacuate them, with no injuries.  

The damage bill has been revised up to more than $400,000.

Firefighters, should be commended for stopping the spread of the fire to neighbouring properties


This morning at 5.15, CFS crews responded to a house fire on Fountain Street in Kanmantoo 50kilometres east of Adelaide.

When crews arrived to the scene a house and vehicle were fully involved with fire. After power was isolated, crews were able to attack the fire and extinguished the blaze in just over half an hour.

Volunteer firefighters should be praised for their efforts in containing the fire so quickly.

Initial estimates of damage are set at $200,000 and fire cause investigators are on scene.

About 20 firefighters and six appliances attended the incident and are likely to remain on scene throughout the morning.
