House fire Appila 8 Oct 2020

At around this 12.20pm this afternoon the CFS were alerted to a house fire at Pine Creek Road, Appila.

Three fire trucks, a bulk water carrier and around 12 volunteer firefighters responded and found the recently renovated limestone structure fully involved upon arrival.

It is believed the fire started in the lounge room where the family dog grabbed a blanket and put it on the heater. All occupants and the dog managed to get out of the house.

Firefighters managed to contain the fire, however around 95% of the house has been damaged.

Approximate damage is estimated at around $250,000.

The CFS would like to remind owners to ensure there are no flammable materials near heaters and to keep a watch on children and animals when heaters are in use.
