Home destroyed by fire at McLaren Flat

At 1:43am residence of a home in McLaren Flat were alerted to a fire in their loungeroom after hearing their smoke alarm activate.

Four CFS fire trucks and a bulk water carrier arrived at the scene to find that the fire had quickly spread through the house, and approximately 40 firefighters attempted to contain the fire and protect two adjoining neighbouring properties.

The home was completely destroyed by fire, with losses estimated at $350,000 to $400,000.

One female resident was transported to hospital with severe burns and smoke inhalation, and one fire fighter is also being treated on site for smoke inhalation.

Attempts are still being made to locate three cats that were inside the home when the fire started.

Fire cause investigators will be on scene this morning to confirm the cause of the fire.
