Fire in Piles of Almond Husks Near Swan Reach - 26 November 2021

 

At 15h20 on Friday, 26 November, CFS crews were alerted to a fire burning in large piles of almond husks near Swan Reach. The fire started in three piles of almond husks, each measuring approximately 50 meters in length, and is producing large amounts of smoke.

 

SA Police have placed signage on the Sturt Highway warning road users of the presence of smoke in the area. It is advised that residents living close to Swan Reach, who may have respiratory ailments, ensure that they close their windows and doors until the presence of smoke dissipates.

 

CFS crews are expected to be working throughout the night in order to bring the fire under control.
