Diesel spill near Crystal Brook

At 1:02 AM Country Fire Service volunteers were called to the scene of a single-vehicle accident approximately 5 kilometres South of Crystal Brook on the Augusta Highway.
A B-double truck had left the road and crashed into a nearby creek bed.
The driver was injured and the highway was temporarily closed at 2:35am to air lift the male for medical treatment.
The highway was then reopend and crews will remain on site to limit the spread of approximately 750L of diesel into the waterway and remove it from the prime mover.
The hazardous material removal and following vehicle removal are expected to take most of the morning.
The remainder of the cargo on board is believed to be nonhazardous.
