Crop Header and Grass Fire at Solomon - 27 October 2023
At around 3:00pm this afternoon CFS were called to a header on fire on the Old Eyre Highway at Solomon, near Kimba on the Eyre Peninsula.
Four CFS trucks crewed with 15 firefighters have spent several hours extinguishing the fire which spread to crops in the surrounding paddock.
Crews have now contained the fire which completely destroyed the header and burnt 30 hectares of crop. CFS crews are expected to remain on site mopping up the area until it is made safe and will continue to monitor the fireground in response to the expected extreme fire danger weather tomorrow.
