Community to remain vigilant over the weekend - Submission 13563-0

Although the Fire Season has only been declared in 12 of the 15 fire ban districts, the CFS has been active today due to hazardous fire weather conditions with TOTAL FIRE BANS declared in seven districts.

TOTAL FIRE BANS in the Northwest Pastoral, West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Mount Lofty Ranges and Riverland continue until midnight tonight.

Although weather conditions will be easing on Saturday 28 October, hazardous fire weather conditions are expected again on Sunday 29 October.

The CFS are asking the community to remain vigilant and observe weather reports and local conditions to reduce the likelihood of re-ignitions due to open fires and burn-offs.

Having a Bushfire Survival Plan is crucial, remembering that you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions.

If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option.
Further information about authorised fires or activities and preparing a bushfire survival plan can be found on the CFS website.
