Carbon monoxide poisoning - 6 June

Saturday, June 6 at 8:15am:

At about 9pm last night CFS crews were called to a property at Lower Light, near Two Wells.

Two people had been found unconscious in a shed and a family member called emergency services.

SA Ambulance revived them at the scene and they were taken to hospital.

The cause of the carbon monoxide poisoning was the use of a generator in the shed without proper ventilation.

CFS Hazardous Materials crews were able to measure the carbon monoxide and adequately ventilate the shed.

This is a reminder to people not to use outdoor appliances indoors. This also relates to the use of outdoor gas heaters under a veranda – ensure there is enough air flow to ventilate the area properly.
