$750,000 Truck fire on the Dukes Highway - 18 September 2023
At approximately 12:15 am CFS volunteers were called to a truck fire on the Dukes Highway outside of Ki Ki.
Approximately 20 firefighters in 4 trucks quickly contained the blaze before it could extend into nearby grass.
No injuries have been recorded with the driver safely exiting the vehicle. The truck is a total loss including cargo with an estimated damage cost of $750,000.
The fire cause is believed to be a mechanical fault in the prime mover.
The fire is causing road closures of the Duke Highway, CFS reminds motorists to drive to conditions.
