$70,000 shed, hay and grass fire at Port Gawler

At 5:52pm last night CFS was alerted to a shed fire on Port Gawler Road.

CFS and MFS crews responded, with seven CFS and two MFS fire trucks plus a CFS bulk water carrier arriving to find a two bay shed, surrounding grass and a three hay bays alight.

The owner of the shed was treated for smoke inhalation on the site and transported to hospital after the smoke inhalation triggered an asthma attack.

Despite the strong wind and inclement weather conditions firefighters were able to contain the fire to the shed, hay bales and surrounding grass.

Contents inside the shed were destroyed, with damages estimated at $70,000.

The fire is believed to have been caused from fallen power line coming in contact with the roof of the shed.
