$600,000 structure fire at Port Vincent on Yorke Peninsula - 9 September 2023
CFS crews were called to a structure fire at Luxmore Street in Port Vincent at 4:45pm this afternoon where they found a single storey home alight. CFS crews wearing breathing apparatus got to work on extinguishing the fire and contained the fire to the home.
At around 11:30pm this evening CFS crews were called back to the house, where the fire is believed to have re-ignited. On arrival, volunteer firefighters on 8 trucks and a bulk water carrier, found the home engulfed in fire and starting to spread to a neighbouring home. The house was destroyed. However, volunteer firefighters were able to limit the spread of the fire to the outside of the house next door.
CFS crews were supported by SA Ambulance Service and SA Police.
The total damage bill is estimated to be approximately $600,000 and fire investigations will attend the scene at first light to examine the cause.
