$500,000 Structure Fire in Kingscote - 17th September 2023

Three businesses, including two cafes and a butchers, have caught fire on Dauncey Street in Kingscote, Kangaroo Island.

All three businesses were closed when the fire started at approximately 5:30 pm this afternoon, with no one reported to have been inside the premise.

10 CFS trucks with approximately 36 local firefighters have arrived on scene and are working to extinguish the blaze. The structure is currently unsafe for firefighters to enter. Crews are working from outside the building to contain fire within the roof before it can spread to the adjacent property.

The right side of the building has been significantly impacted and the damage amount is currently estimated at $500,000.

The cause is currently unknown and Fire Investigators will attend the scene. SA Police and SA Power Networks are also currently on scene.
