$50,000 house fire at Aldinga Beach - 19 September 2021

At 9:23 this morning CFS crews were alerted to a house fire in McDonald Avenue, Aldinga Beach by a member of the public who was walking along the Esplanade and spotted flames coming from the roof of a nearby home.

Two CFS crews with 12 volunteer firefighters arrived to find a fire in the kitchen of the home, with flames spreading into an exhaust fan.

Crews entered the home and found the occupant had fallen while trying to evacuate.

Firefighters were able to assist the resident and administer first aid for minor injuries, while other firefighters extinguished the fire.

Damage to the property has been estimated at more than $50,000.

Crews will remain on scene to ensure there are no remaining hotspots in the property and members of the public should be cautious around the area, as emergency vehicles will be in the area for some time and traffic may become congested around the Aldinga Beach Road intersection.
