$400,000 grass fire at Sandalwood - 22 January 2023
At approximately 12:20pm, CFS crews were called to a grass fire at a property on Charleson Road, Sandalwood.
16 CFS volunteers on 3 trucks and 1 Bulk Water Carrier attended the scene and were able to quickly extinguish the fire with minimal spread. The fire is believed to have started by a crop header and is not suspicious.
Unfortunately the header was significantly damaged, including 40-50 nearby hay bales. Crews will remain on the scene breaking up the hay and extinguish any hotspots.
Damage is estimated between $350,000 - $400,000.
