$40,000 Shed Fire at Swan Reach - 24 January 2023

CFS were called to a shed fire in Swan Reach, north-east of Adelaide in the State’s Riverland region at 5.20pm this evening.

9 CFS crews – including fire trucks and command vehicles supported by SAPOL have attended the residential property where a welder caught alight, and a large shed was well involved in fire on arrival.

The initial fire destroyed the shed and ignited a grass fire on the property, burning approximately 2 hectares surrounding the area.

Crews have contained the fire to the shed and surrounding grass area, saving the home from stopping the spread from impacting the home on the property damage and a nearby property. The two occupants on the scene were thankfully unharmed.

Losses are estimated at $40,000, with the majority being attributed to the total loss of the shed.

CFS crews are expected to remain on site to mop up the grass area and make the shed remains safe from any reignition.

This comes as a timely reminder of vigilance when using machinery in the conditions being experienced around the state currently.
