$250,000 Truck Fire at Tintinara - 18 February 2023

Earlier this evening, CFS were called to attend a truck fire on the Dukes Highway, Tintinara in the State’s Murray Mallee region, southeast of Adelaide.

Three CFS trucks and one farm fire unit have attended the scene, where the trailer at the rear end of truck was well involved in fire which spread to roadside vegetation, burning approximately half a hectare.

As the prime mover was able to detach from the trailer, it escaped damage but unfortunately it is likely that the trailer is now a total loss as an estimated $250,000 in damage was sustained.

The cause of the fire is suspected to be mechanical fault, likely to have been started by wheel bearings on the trailer.

Thankfully no one was injured in the incident and SAPOL are on site to relieve any traffic impacts and returning road access to commuters.
