$250,000 house fire at Blinman in the Flinders Ranges - 6 June 2023

CFS crews from Wilpena, Hawker and Leigh Creek were alerted to a fire in a structure on Mine Road at Blinman in the Flinders Ranges, just before 2:30am this morning. On arrival, seven CFS volunteers on three trucks found a house engulfed in fire. Crews used defensive firefighting techniques to stop the fire from spreading.

Emergency services were called by neighbours who had reported seeing fire coming from the flue. The two occupants who were inside the house at the time self-evacuated and were not injured.

Estimated damages to the stone house are believed to be about $250,000.

It’s expected crews will remain on scene for a few hours to ensure all hotspots within the house are extinguished.
