$200,000 structure fire at Stirling North - 10 October 2023

The CFS has responded to a house fire on Willoughby Street at Stirling North around 5 o’clock this evening.

25 firefighters on four CFS trucks and three MFS trucks responded to the fire, which had started in one of the bedrooms of the home and spread to the roof space. Crews were able to contain the fire to the bedroom and roof space but the structure of the home has been significantly damaged.

Firefighters were supported by SA Power Networks, SA Ambulance Service and SA Police.

Crews are expected to remain on scene for some time as they continue to extinguish any hot spots and make the scene safe. Total losses are estimated to be approximately $200,000.

The homeowner was initially alerted to the fire by a working smoke detector. This allowed all the occupants to quickly and safely evacuate, and call Triple 0 for assistance. The cause of the fire has initially been determined as children playing with matches. Fire Investigators will attend the property tomorrow to further investigate the cause.
