$200,000 barley trailers saved by volunteers on Eyre Peninsula

At 8:50 this morning CFS crews on the Eyre Peninsula responded to reports of a truck fire on the Tod Highway at Karkoo, 45 minutes northwest of Port Lincoln.

Volunteer firefighters from Karkoo, Yeelanna and Cummins were supported by local Farm Fire Units. The quick action by crews and farm firefighters contained the fire to the prime mover and prevented it from spreading to the two trailers of barley, which contained a combined value of over $200,000.

Total damages were approximately $250,000.
