$150,000 truck fire at Monarto South - 21 June 2021

At 11:00 this morning CFS crews were alerted to smoke coming from a prime mover in a parking bay on the east-bound side of the South Eastern Freeway at Monarto South..

The driver had stopped the vehicle in a parking bay for a rest stop and noticed the smoke when he when returned.

He was able to uncouple the prime mover from its trailer and get out of the vehicle without injury.

Four CFS and two MFS crews arrived to find the fire had spread through the vehicle.

The prime mover was destroyed, with damages estimated to be $150,000.

At this stage the cause of the fire has not been determined, but is not believed to be suspicious.
