Sarah Young appointed Robe Group Officer

After 26 years with the SA Country Fire Service (CFS), Sarah Young has been appointed Group Officer for Robe Group in the South East, becoming CFS's second female Group Officer.
Sarah joined CFS as a cadet and has spent all 26 years of her service with Robe Town Brigade.
While she never set out to become a Group Officer, Sarah says she's proud to take on the role.
“It's a pretty amazing achievement. I didn't set out to ever become a Group Officer. I just wanted to be a firefighter and give back to the community.”
Sarah has previously held the positions of Robe Group Administration Coordinator and Robe Town Brigade Administration Coordinator, working closely with brigades across the group.
She hopes her experience and existing relationships with members will help her in the new role.

“I'm hoping that I can do the best I can for the group and that they see me as somebody who's approachable and able to be there for support with anything they need,” Sarah said.
For Sarah, the appointment is about continuing to support the volunteers she has worked alongside for many years.
“I'm very grateful and honoured to be voted in as the Robe Group Officer. To me, this role is more than just a title. It’s a legacy to be continued. I very much want to remain grounded and be able to support my crews and fellow volunteers with whatever they need.”
Congratulations to Sarah on her appointment and thank you for your continued service.
