Grassfire at Cleve - 18 October 2026
Five trucks carrying approximately 18 firefighters, and supported by eight farm fire units, responded to a farm machinery fire at 5.35 pm on Arno Bay Road, 7 kilometres south of Cleve on the Eyre Peninsula.
Upon arrival CFS firefighters found farm machinery on fire and spreading into the adjacent lentil crop.
The fire was contained to the machinery and around one hectare of the paddock, saving the remainder of the crop.
CFS aviation was deployed to the site but was ultimately not required.
The farm machinery was destroyed, and its value is estimated at $400,000, while $1500 crop was also lost.
The fire’s cause is currently undetermined.
The CFS thanks the local farm fire units for their support and the help they provided their neighbour at this busy and important time of year.
