Hotel fire at Pinnaroo - 16 October 2026

Three trucks carrying approximately 12 firefighters responded to Triple Zero to attend a fire at the Golden Grain Hotel at 3.15 am on Railway Terrace at Pinnaroo in the state’s Mallee.

Upon arrival CFS volunteer firefighters found a fire in the century old hotel’s laundry that was spreading into the lounge area.

Hotel occupants had evacuated the hotel safely prior to CFS arrival.

The fire was contained within an hour and CFS firefighters prevented it from spreading into other parts of the historic hotel.

However, there was some smoke damage to two additional rooms and damage to the hotel has been estimated at $100,000.

It is anticipated the hotel should be able to continue functioning with minimal disruption.

Fire Cause Investigators will attend later this morning.
