HazMat at Nuriootpa - 19 July 2026

This morning at around 10:40 am CFS volunteer firefighters were called to a hazardous materials (HazMat) incident at Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley.

Two specialist HazMat brigades and a support vehicle from Nuriootpa and Dalkeith responded to the incident that was a result of a chemical reaction resulting from mixing pool chemicals.

CFS volunteers, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, diluted the chemicals by adding them to the pool following guidance from CFS Technical Operations. Crews continued to monitor the scene and conducted atmospheric monitoring  to ensure it was safe to hand back to the owner.

SA Ambulance were in attendance and assessed the homeowner at the scene.

SA Police also provided support on scene.
