Road train fire at Coonalpyn - 15 March 2026

Four CFS trucks carrying approximately 20 firefighters responded to Triple Zero to attend a vehicle fire just after 7 am on the Dukes Highway at Coonalpyn, approximately 170 kilometres south east of Adelaide.

Upon arrival volunteer firefighters found the rear trailer of a road train involved in fire.

The truck driver was able to separate the truck cab, preventing the fire’s spread.

Volunteer firefighters have contained the fire but the impacted trailer has been destroyed.

The trailer contained a large number of packages for delivery, the value of which is unknown.

The Dukes Highway has been closed for the duration of the incident but is expected to reopen shortly.

CFS volunteers received SA Police support at this incident.
