Shed fire at Moorak - 21 January 2026

Following a triple zero call at 1:24am from a neighbour who reported hearing several explosions, three fire trucks carrying approximately 15 firefighters attended a structure fire at Moorak, located five kilometres south of Mount Gambier in the state’s South East.

Upon arrival, SACFS volunteers found a large shed well alight and set about extinguishing it.

The shed was used to store several recently restored vehicles, along with firearms, ammunition and other items.

Unfortunately, the shed has been destroyed, along with four vehicles and a large caravan. Damage is estimated at $600,000.

However, good work from CFS volunteers saw a large fishing boat saved.

The South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service provided assistance in managing the incident.

SACFS volunteers will now remain on site to continue mopping up the fire and to ensure the property is made safe.

Fire Investigators have been requested to attend.
