Structure fire at Belalie East - 8 August 2025

CFS crews were called to a structure fire at a residential property in Belalie East of the State’s Mid North region late this morning.

Two CFS trucks, with approximately eight firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke throughout the house. Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera located and extinguished the fire that had ignited the floorboards surrounding the combustion fireplace, successfully containing the fire damage to a small area.

Early activation of working smoke alarms and the quick response of CFS crews ensured that damage was minimised to approximately $30,000 and importantly, the spread of fire was prevented further within the property.

No property occupants were home at the time of the incident. This is a timely reminder of how critical fire alarms are for early detection and response to house fires. Please take the time to check, test, clean or replace smoke alarms in your home.
