Structure fire at Pukatja - 3 July 2025
One truck carrying four firefighters attended a structure fire at 3:30pm at Pukatja, also known as Ernabella, in the APY Lands in South Australia’s Far North.
Upon arrival, CFS volunteers found a large shed well involved in fire.
The shed, measuring approximately 15x6 metres, was used as office space, accommodation and as a storage facility.
Unfortunately, the fire also spread to a large yard full of building equipment and much of this was also destroyed in the blaze.
The building was unoccupied at the time the fire started.
Volunteers were able to leave the scene after three hours of solid work to manage the fire and its outcome.
Damage to the site is estimated at $2 million.
SA Police provided support during the incident and Fire Investigators have been notified.
