Vehicle fire at Littlehampton - 14 May 2025

Three CFS trucks carrying approximately 15 volunteer firefighters attended a fire on a grain train at 11:14pm at Littlehampton in the Adelaide Hills.

When arriving at the train, which had stopped near Nitschke Road, volunteers found one of its six locomotives on fire.

The volunteer firefighters contained the fire to the loco and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the train or into surrounding grass.

Within 50 minutes of stopping, the train was able to recommence its journey to Adelaide. 

SA Police attended the scene in support.
