Truck fire near Blanchetown - 9 August 2025
Just after midday, the CFS were alerted to a B-double truck fire in the parking bay area of a service station along the Sturt Highway near Blanchetown, approximately 130km north east of Adelaide.
Approximately 13 firefighters on 3 trucks and support vehicles attended the fire that started in the prime mover of a wide-load truck upon vehicle ignition. CFS crews effectively extinguished the fire in the prime mover and saved the contents of the load, as well as preventing any spread of fire to fuel bowsers within 15 metres of the truck. Although $600,000 damage was sustained to the prime mover, an estimated $8-million-dollar load was saved by the quick work of first responders.
SA Police assisted the CFS on scene, containing and isolating the incident from the public. No injuries have been reported.
Crews are on site, mopping up and securing the site.
