Stubble fire at Wasleys - 3 March 2022
CFS volunteers supported by farm firefighting units were called to Carmichael Road at Wasleys, near Roseworthy at 5pm.
Quick work by crews contained a stubble fire to 33 hectares. While the fire is contained, there are numerous hotspots burning within native scrub within the stubble paddocks and its likely crews will remain on scene for most of the night.
The fire is believed to have started after a slasher hit a rock while cutting stubble. It’s a timely reminder to landowners conducting hazard reduction on their properties to ensure they have something on hand to extinguish the fire.
