Structure fire at Mannum Piggery

At around 1:50pm this afternoon, CFS was alerted to a structure fire at the Mannum Piggery.

Seven CFS fire trucks including one Bulk Water Carrier and 35 volunteer firefighters along with assistance from MFS crews responded and found the 30 metre by 100 metre shed fully ablaze with approximately 1000 animals trapped in the shed. PIRSA and RSPCA have been called onto the scene.

Firefighters managed to contain the fire to the shed of origin.

It is believed the fire was started when someone was refuelling a pressure sprayer and the spark caused ignition.

Sapol crime scene are currently in attendance to confirm the cause of the fire. Damages are estimated to be approximately $1 million dollars.
