Structure fire at Jamestown - 13 May 2025
Two trucks carrying approximately eight firefighters responded to a Triple Zero call to attend a structure fire at 6pm in Dutton Street at Jamestown in the state’s Mid North.
The fire started when a barbecue in an outdoor kitchen area ignited a nearby palm tree.
Upon arrival, volunteer firefighters found the fire well involved and employed defensive techniques to quell the blaze.
Despite the fire threatening the main body of the house, the efforts of the volunteers saw damage mostly contained to the outdoor kitchen.
The fire was confirmed extinguished and safe within an hour of the blaze starting, with firefighters using a thermal imaging camera to ensure the house and palm tree had cooled down sufficiently.
All occupants of the home safely exited the space under threat, however the fire caused $50,000 in damage.
CFS volunteers remain on the scene conducting mopping-up operations.
SAPOL were also in attendance.
