Structure fire at Cockatoo Valley - 23 June 2025
Four CFS trucks with approximately 20 firefighters have been supported by two MFS trucks at a house fire in Cockatoo Valley, north of Adelaide and near Gawler. A sheep, firefighters believe to be a family pet, has been supervising the crews efforts from the staging area.
The fire, which started at approximately 11:00 am, had completely engulfed the house when crews arrived on scene causing an estimated $300,000 of damage to the old stone house. Firefighters were able to contain the fire in approximately 20 minutes and have stopped any spread to surrounding farmland.
Residents were able to leave the property safely and no injuries have been recorded at this time. Firefighters have extinguished the fire and will remain on scene until the area is deemed safe.
SA Police and SA Ambulance were on scene supporting firefighters. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, fire investigators have been called to the scene.
