Solar battery incident in Woodchester - 20 May 2025
CFS volunteer firefighters responded to a solar battery incident at Avondale Road at Woodchester, near Strathalbyn in the Adelaide Hills, just before 1pm this afternoon.
Volunteer firefighters on 2 CFS trucks, supported by MFS firefighters, responded to a ruptured solar battery system. The solar system, which was a lead-acid battery system, shorted out and ruptured in the residential shed.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus neutralised the product, which had spilled, and are ventilating the area. There was no active fire.
SA Ambulance Service were on scene and took one person to hospital for treatment.
