Shopping Centre fire at Stirling - 15 October 2023

At a quarter past two this afternoon, the CFS was alerted by an automatic fire alarm and multiple triple 0 calls of a large fire at the Woolworths store on 28 Mount Barker Road in Stirling.

17 trucks and approximately 85 firefighters are currently battling the blaze supported by the Metropolitan Fire Service, SA Police, SA Ambulance Service and SA Power Networks.

An active smoke message has been issued to the public advising people in the area to stay well away from the smoke and that there is an exclusion zone on Mount Barker Road.

The fire is still out of control and is expected to take our volunteers several hours to be contained. Road closures remain in place, so please avoid the area.

No one has been injured and it's believed that a number of neighbouring businesses in the shopping complex were saved which is a fantastic testament to the swift response by our volunteers.

Fire investigators are yet to establish a cause or damage bill.
